Mehindi Storying

At the Light of Hope Center today, a volunteer shared the Bible story in a different way. Mehindi is the henna designs the South Asian women draw on their hands and sometimes feet. After Jill shared the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand, she had the girls retell it, then act it out.

Next, we took the Mehindi and drew designs to help them remember the story. The flowers represented the bread, and we drew two fish.

The girls had to let the mehindi dry for awhile before washing it off. While waiting, they took turns retelling the story using the designs on their hands. Then it was time for lunch.
The afternoon girls later had snack.
They loved the mehindi. We have about ten different stories we can tell using the designs. I have been wanting to learn so that I could do it with my Moms and Friends Bible Club when I get back.
